Want to create a website, but don't know where to begin? this guide should give you a few tips.
First, you need to decide on this: are you going to code your website yourself, or would you rather use drag and drop software if coding is too advanced for you? if you want to code but don't have much experience, i have some html and css tutorials that you can try.
Code it yourself: okay - you need a host, and if you wan't to use your own coding, check out some of these free hosts.
weebly - mostly based on drag and drop, but you can code your own template, or edit the codes of one of theirs.
freewebs - I'd reccomend this. It's simple enough, but check out my tutorials first.
000webhost - requires some ftp knowledge, but it's easy enough - the only problems are the pop up ads and misleading interface.
webstarts - mostly drag and drop but you can edit the html code, as long as you can put up with annoying automatic edits.
site44 - a cool piece of kit that lets you use dropbox to host a website for free.
drag and drop/templates: this is the easier, less advanced option, with a bit more choice when it comes to free service.
freewebs - since it was acquired by vistaprint, freewebs' drag and drop site builder has really improved, with nice templates and loads of widgets!
weebly - an award winning service with loads of features, including a school version! great templates and easy to use, and you can start coding templates on your own at any time!
webstarts - if you liked piczo, you'll love this. you can arrange everything wherever you want it to go on the page, insert text, html, pictures, videos, clipart, backgrounds, titles, guestbooks, blogs, profiles and more! it's as easy as using microsoft word!
yola - i've not had much experience with this, but from what i've seen, it's easy to use and has some nice looking templates!
wix - you might have seen adverts for wix - a really nice way to make a site with some amazing looking templates! the only downside is that it can be slow at times.
moonfruit - with great templates and easy drag and drop features, this one is hard to beat - especially if you like wix and webstarts!
google sites - probably the most stable of them all. with a simple interface, google sites doesn't have the looks and the designs of the other builders, but it gets the job done and has great features!
these website builders should serve you well - you can also check out blogger, tumblr and wordpress if you're more interested in creating a blog!
